This programs fits the needs of anyone who wants to be closer to horses and does not wish to ride. Our Clinicians will design a private personalized program designed for anyones specific needs whether they wish to groom, hug, photograph, draw or just be around horses.

Community Service

We are a 501(c)3 which enables us to permit those in need of community service to come to our facility. We prefer highschool age and up preferably in an  agriculture program . If you have no equine experience you are required to apply for a safety training program. The cost of the program is $250.00. Those who want to give back to the community, who need community service to graduate, hours for college or schooling and those who are required by the courts. All volunteers must apply for a safety training program and call for an intake appointment through Healing With Horses. High School and adults who require hours may apply. We do not accept anyone under the age of 17. 

Equine Communication Classes

Have you ever wondered what horses are thinking? We offer classes here at Healing With Horses that will teach you how to read equine body language that transfers into improving your interactions with humans. Observe the hierarchy of the herd and interact with the horses verbally and through body language. This class will not only enlighten you, it will be an unimaginable experience. Learn what horses are saying to each other just by their body language, the unspoken language. Learning body language of the horse is imperative to bonding with a horse and is helpful prior to riding in any Lesson Program. Call to register for this exceptional class which has been written about in "The Day" newspaper and "Montville Times"

Saviors for Survivors (Veterans Program)

Both men and women who served in our military suffering with PTSD, Anxiety or Trauma including grief  therapy are welcome to participate in these unique programs. Many suffer from anger or addiction issues related to the stress from what has been endured through serving over seas or in our military. A program designed for specific needs of the intensity and damage to ones psyche. By placing themselves in a relationship with one of our horses with our experienced instructor you will gain confidence, vision and self esteem to bond through the use of a horse and teacher. Horses are like holding a mirror to oneself to learn how to regain trust and share it with loved ones and friends.

Volunteering

Healing With Horses has open doors to those who would like to volunteer beginning from age 17. This does not include riding horses. The work on a farm is never finished, or so they say! New volunteers will  is required to take a mandatory six week training course cost is $250.00 no acceptions. Volunteers learn about equine safety and the jobs that need to be done here at our facility. Ledyard High School Agri-Science students CAN use hours volunteered here as part of their Supervised Agriculture Experience that is required of them. Education is not free which is why we set a minimum fee to all new volunteers. You will come away with new knowledge and skills. You will be reviewed every 3 months or sooner to be sure you are up to date on your work skills which you may add to your resume and college applications. Call for an intake, send a resume at intake you will be required to complete a Volunteer Application. This will be reviewed by our board members. If accepted you must pay up front for your Safety Training Classes of $250.00 in cash or check.  If you feel this is something you would like to do call during business hours. You  can enter your teen in paid volunteering program on Saturday. This is an educational program and subject to interview.
